The best plastic free dental products

Plastic free dental care might not be at the top of your swaps list, but every single toothbrush you've ever used is still on this planet.

In fact, every single toothpaste tube you've used is still on this planet too. As well as your floss dispensers, and possibly the floss too!

Enter the bamboo toothbrushes, plastic free toothpastes, natural dental floss and mouthwash tablets!

Plastic free dental care is not only possible, it has some of the easiest switches going.

There's no transition phase with plastic free toothbrushes. Plastic free dental floss doesn't require a change in habits. It's so simple.

Toothbrushes are becoming quite the poster boy of ocean plastic pollution. They're everywhere, it doesn't take much zooming on plastic pollution pictures to spot a few.

It's not surprising either. Everyone needs a toothbrush and we change them every 2-3 months. It's estimated that 3.6 billion plastic toothbrushes are used every year. Shocking.

Thankfully, there's a biodegradable and sustainable solution.

Bamboo toothbrushes are made from the world's fastest growing grass making it a great alternative to plastic. Bambaw's bamboo toothbrush ticks all the boxes. They come as a 4 pack with different panda prints on the handles to easily distinguish between brushes. Ideal for the whole family!

You can't use toothbrushes without toothpaste so it's no surprise that plastic toothpaste tubes are also terrible for the plastic pollution crisis.

We found plastic free toothpastes much harder to find than bamboo toothbrushes which we find more readily available.

Thankfully Georganics have a great range.

Their natural toothpaste is one of a few plastic free solutions. It comes in a glass jar, which of course is recyclable, with a little handy bamboo spatula to help spread onto your new bamboo toothbrush.

Their recipe for natural toothpaste is completely vegan and unlike many normal dental brands, cruelty-free.

We also stock Georganics' Toothpowder and Toothtablets!

Dental floss

You can't have a plastic free dental care routine without plastic free dental floss.

Another great product from Georganics, this natural floss is made from Ahimsa (Peace) silk, coated with Candelilla wax and flavoured with organic Spearmint oil.

It comes in a reusable glass dispenser and metal cap so once you have the dispenser all you have to do is get the refills

Mouthwash Tablets

To finish it all off, the mouthwash.

Most mouthwashes come in recyclable bottles but are still plastic.

When you recycle plastic, historically only 9% of plastic actually gets recycled. After 2-3 times of being recycled, plastic has broken down too much and cannot be used.

So even when recycling the mouthwash bottles, eventually the plastic will end up in landfill and the environment!

These mouthwash tablets are the perfect plastic free solution. As with the other Georganics products, they come in a glass jar with aluminium lid.

Simply pop a tablet in 20ml of water and let is dissolve. Gargle for 30 seconds then spit without rinsing!

We're pretty simple beings, those four dental essentials completes our plastic free routine.

I think you'll agree, these plastic swaps are pretty easy. Try them today and help reduce the amount of plastic pollution in the world. Browse our plastic free dental care range.

Remember, 3.6 billion toothbrushes are used and disposed of every year. Be part of the change and switch to sustainable alternatives.
