Yok Chan's Chilli Oil

Sunflower Oil, Shallots, Dried Chillies (9%), Garlic, Salt, Lemon Juice, Spices, Homemade Curry Powder (Rice, Spices). Vegan. May contain traces of wheat, soya, tree nuts, peanuts, sesame, milk products, mustard, celery and sulphites. No artificial flavourings or preservatives.

FAQs ▾

Is the wasabi powder real wasabi?

Yes. Most "wasabi" you'll find outside Japan is dyed horseradish only, but The Wasabi Company are the only growers of real wasabi in the UK. They cultivate it in spring water on their Dorset and Hampshire farms (originally watercress beds, since the 1850s) before freeze-drying it to lock in the flavour. The powder contains 20% real wasabi alongside horseradish and mustard.

Tell me more about Zaytoun's za'atar.

Zaytoun is a UK Community Interest Company that reinvests 100% of its profits into supporting Palestinian farmers through fair trade. The za'atar in this box is made from majorana syriaca (a wild thyme indigenous to Palestine), hand-harvested by the Burqin Women's Cooperative in the Jenin region, sun-dried, and stripped from its stems by hand.

Is this box vegan?

Yes, every item is fully vegan and plant-based.

Is it suitable for nut or peanut allergy sufferers?

Unfortunately not. Although none of the items contain nuts as ingredients, both Yok Chan's Chilli Oil and Zaytoun's Za'atar carry "may contain" warnings for tree nuts and peanuts due to their production environments. We don't recommend this box for anyone with a serious nut or peanut allergy.
