FSC® Dish Brush - EcoLiving

A plastic-free dish brush with a replaceable head - beechwood handle, plant-based bristles, and a metal hanging clip for drying between uses.

Made by a small family brush-maker in Germany that has been at it for decades, this brush is built properly. The handle is locally grown beechwood, the bristles are plant-based and fully biodegradable, and the head clips off and on easily so you only ever need to replace the part that wears out.

Plant bristles matter more than they might seem - plastic bristles shed with use and end up in waterways. These won't.

  • Beechwood handle - locally grown, FSC® certified
  • Plant-based bristles - fully biodegradable, no plastic shedding
  • Replaceable head - reduces waste and keeps costs down over time
  • Metal hanging clip for upright drying between uses
  • Handmade in Germany by a small family company

When the head wears out, pick up a replacement head rather than replacing the whole brush. If you'd prefer a brush without the metal clip, our fully wooden dish brush is worth a look. Or if washing-up cloths are more your thing, we also stock bamboo cloths and compostable sponges.

Product Care

Use the metal clip to hang the brush upright after washing up so it can dry fully between uses - this significantly extends the life of the head. Avoid leaving it sitting in water or lying flat on a wet surface.

FAQs

Is the FSC® Dish Brush handle included when I buy replacement heads?
No - replacement heads are sold separately without the handle. If you need the full brush, you want this product; for just the head, head to the replacement heads page.

How often does the dish brush head need replacing?
It depends on use, but most people find a head lasts a few months with regular washing up. Hanging it to dry between uses rather than leaving it wet will help it last longer.

Are plant-based bristles as effective as plastic ones?
Yes - they're firm enough to tackle stuck-on food on pots and pans and soft enough not to scratch most surfaces. The main bonus is that they won't shed microplastics into your water.

What's the difference between this and the fully wooden dish brush?
This brush uses a metal clip to attach the replaceable head, while the fully wooden dish brush is entirely wood-based with no metal components. Both have plant-based bristles and replaceable heads - it comes down to personal preference.
