Yok Chan's Chilli Oil

Multi award-winning chilli oil made in small batches using a recipe Yok Chan has been perfecting since the 1990s - inspired by Chinese, Malaysian and Sri Lankan flavours. Available in Original, Hotter and Extra Garlic.

Yok Chan's Chilli Oil started as a homemade recipe in East London, created to save money and celebrate the flavours Yok Chan grew up with. Word spread, demand grew, and now it's one of the most talked-about small-batch chilli oils in the UK - stocked by independent shops and loved by chefs.

The Original is versatile without being shouty - heat that doesn't bulldoze everything else, which is why it works on everything from scrambled eggs and cheese on toast to noodles, pizza, curries and soups. Hotter is the same recipe with more fire for those who want a proper kick. And the Extra Garlic takes the original base and turns up the garlic dial in the best possible way - same recipe, noticeably more garlic, whole new dimensions.

FAQs

Who is Yok Chan?
Yok Chan is the maker behind the oil - she's been developing and refining her recipe since the 1990s, drawing on her Chinese, Malaysian and Sri Lankan heritage. Each batch is still made in small quantities to keep quality consistent.

What's the difference between the three versions?
Original is the classic - medium heat, balanced and incredibly versatile. Hotter is the same recipe with the chilli level turned up for those who want more fire. Extra Garlic keeps the same heat as the Original but adds a much heavier hit of garlic, opening up slightly different uses and pairings.

How spicy is it?
Original and Extra Garlic both sit at a medium heat - noticeable and enjoyable without being aggressive. Hotter is a step up from that, so worth bearing in mind if you're buying as a gift or for someone who's spice-sensitive.

Is Yok Chan's Chilli Oil vegan?
Yes - all three versions are fully plant-based with no animal-derived ingredients.

What can I use it on?
Pretty much anything. Especially good on scrambled eggs, cheese on toast, noodles, pasta, fried rice, dumplings, pizza and soups. Once you start, you'll find yourself reaching for it constantly.

Is it gluten-free?
The ingredients are gluten-free, but the product may contain traces of wheat due to production. If you have coeliac disease or a severe gluten allergy, please check with Yok Chan directly before ordering.
