How do you drink the switchel?

Shake well and pour over plenty of ice in a tall glass, top up with one of the Folkington's sodas, garnish if you fancy. Mother Root suggests around 25ml per serve, so the bottle stretches to roughly ten drinks. Strong enough to feel like a proper aperitivo, mild enough to keep going.

Is it really alcohol-free?

Mother Root comes in at 0.1% ABV, well below the 0.5% threshold the UK uses to classify drinks as non-alcoholic. The trace amount comes from the natural fermentation of the apple cider vinegar. It's safe for designated drivers and most non-drinkers, but if your recipient is fully sober for medical or recovery reasons, please check with them first.

Is this suitable for pregnancy or breastfeeding?

It contains apple cider vinegar and ginger. Most people enjoy both during pregnancy without issue, but we'd always recommend checking with a GP or midwife rather than relying on us. If in doubt, this might not be the right gift.

Is everything in the box vegan?

Almost. Mother Root contains blossom honey, which makes it vegetarian rather than vegan. The soda water and olives are both vegan. Get in touch if you'd like a fully vegan alternative.
