Most sunscreens come loaded with synthetic UV filters, fragrances and preservatives in a single-use plastic bottle. Shade strips all of that back to four carefully chosen natural ingredients: organic shea butter, organic virgin coconut oil, non-nano zinc oxide and beeswax.

The zinc oxide is the active SPF ingredient - it sits on the surface of the skin and physically blocks UVA and UVB rays rather than absorbing them chemically.

SPF25 means it takes up to 25 times longer to burn than unprotected skin under the same conditions. 100ml.

Ingredients & How To Use

Organic unrefined shea butter, organic virgin coconut oil, cosmetic grade non-nano zinc oxide 18%, premium pure unrefined beeswax.

Apply generously to gain maximum SPF25 benefit - Shade works immediately. Reapply at least every 2-3 hours and after swimming, sweating or towelling.

Shade is thicker than conventional sunscreen and leaves a white cast - this is the zinc oxide layer working as intended. Do not be put off by the appearance.

Important: Shade is not a sunblock and is not waterproof. Reapplying does not extend your original protected time - it simply maintains coverage within that window. Green Pear Eco and Shade strongly recommend avoiding sun exposure between 11am and 3pm when UV levels are at their highest. If you feel like you are burning, cover your skin.

FAQs

Why does it look white when applied?
The white appearance is the zinc oxide - the active ingredient that physically blocks UV rays. Unlike chemical UV filters which are clear, zinc oxide sits on the surface of the skin and reflects light. It does blend in with time, but some white cast is normal and expected.

Is SPF25 enough protection?
SPF25 blocks 96 out of 100 UV photons and gives up to 25 times longer before burning compared to unprotected skin in the same conditions. For most everyday situations it's effective, but we strongly recommend avoiding peak sun hours (11am-3pm) regardless of SPF, and reapplying regularly.

Is this suitable for vegans?
No - it contains beeswax. It is cruelty-free and made from natural ingredients, but is not vegan.

Is it waterproof?
No - reapply after swimming, sweating or towelling. Do not rely on it as a waterproof sunscreen.
