The award-winning salted caramel with real Belgian milk chocolate stirred through it. Rich, velvety and not remotely subtle.

Chocolate spreads usually taste of palm oil and sugar. This one starts from an actual caramel - Welsh cream, Welsh butter, sea salt - and the chocolate is proper Belgian milk chocolate rather than cocoa powder and fat. What you get is closer to a soft chocolate caramel than to a hazelnut spread.

Thick on toast, stirred into porridge, spooned straight from the jar. Warmed gently it turns into a glossy sauce for pancakes.

Cream (milk), sugar, butter (milk), milk chocolate (whole milk powder (milk), cocoa butter, cocoa mass, emulsifier (soya lecithin (E322)), natural vanilla flavouring), golden syrup, salt, sea salt 0.76%.

Made in a kitchen handling gluten, soya, nuts and milk.

FAQs

Is it very sweet?
It is a caramel spread, so yes, but the sea salt keeps it in check. It is less sweet than most commercial chocolate spreads because there is real chocolate doing some of the work.

Does it contain nuts?
Not as an ingredient, but it is made in a kitchen that handles nuts. If you have a serious nut allergy, take that into account.

Crwst started in 2018 as a bakery and cafe in Aberteifi (Cardigan) in west Wales, and the spreads came out of the bakehouse recipes. Everything is made in small batches with Welsh cream, Welsh butter and Pembrokeshire sea salt. They are now stocked as far afield as Selfridges, which for a Cardigan bakery is no small thing.
