Nutty, sweet and salty all at once. The two-star salted caramel blended with a proper hazelnut butter.

Hazelnut butter is the second ingredient here, not a flavouring, so the nuttiness is roasted and real rather than sweet and perfumed. Against the salted caramel it does what hazelnut always does well: takes the edge off the sugar and adds a bit of grit and depth.

Very good on toast. Better warmed and poured over vanilla ice cream.

FAQs

Is it like a chocolate hazelnut spread?
No - there is no chocolate in it at all. It is a caramel with hazelnut butter blended in, so it tastes of roasted nuts and butterscotch rather than cocoa.

Will it separate in the jar?
It can settle slightly. Give it a stir before use and it comes back together.

Crwst started in 2018 as a bakery and cafe in Aberteifi (Cardigan) in west Wales, and the spreads came out of the bakehouse recipes. Everything is made in small batches with Welsh cream, Welsh butter and Pembrokeshire sea salt. They are now stocked as far afield as Selfridges, which for a Cardigan bakery is no small thing.
